When this code is activated it should store freeze-frame data that helps someone with an advanced code scanning tool to get information on exactly what was going on with the vehicle when the P Peugeot code was triggered. Possible Solutions As a vehicle owner there is little you can do to fix this code. The most common fix for a P Peugeot code is to replace the PCM, although in some cases re-flashing the PCM with updated software could possibly fix this. In all likelyhood the fix is to replace the PCM.
NOTE: This repair may be covered under the emissions warranty so be sure to check with your dealer as this may be covered beyond the bumper-to-bumper or powertrain warranty period.

Enter the 5 character trouble codes in the search box and submit the search. If your OBD-II trouble codes are for a different car, select that vehicle series before searching for the diagnostic codes because not all OBD2 codes used by one manufacture are used by the other makes. In the overview, you will then get a list of the engine codes with the years of construction and engine capacity. If there is a match with other car makes and car models, these will also be shown in the overview. The engine code finder is meant to help you find your own engine code based on the examples given by us, and is strictly informative.
For many car parts, such as engines and cylinder headsit is important that you specify the correct motor code on your request. The engine code is usually stamped somewhere into the engine block. You can search our database for engine codes which have been specified with requests in the past. There might just be a match which will help you find the engine code of your own vehicle. Then submit your car parts request or find car parts in the online stock using the correct engine code.

The low voltage side of the system is referred to as the primary circuit. It includes the battery, ignition switch, primary coil winding, a triggering mechanism such as a crankshaft sensor and switching device such as an ignition module or ECU.
DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) List
The high voltage side of the system is called the secondary circuit. On modern vehicles it includes the coil pack and spark plugs. Current technology has done away with many ignition components of the past. This includes items such as the distributor, cap, rotor — and now even the spark plug wires.
Modern engines use only a coil pack that sits directly on top of the spark plug. A coil pack. Courtesy: www. The coil pack is used to convert the low primary circuit voltage to high secondary voltage needed to fire the plugs. The coil pack is basically a transformer, which has coils of wire inside. The primary side has a few hundred turns of wire, whereas the secondary side has thousands.Upai
Current is applied to the primary side of the coil, which creates a magnetic field around the winding. Then, the current is interrupted by a switching device usually the PCM. This causes the magnetic field to collapse, inducing a voltage into the winding. Simultaneously, the collapsing magnetic field creates a voltage in the secondary winding. Since the secondary winding contains many more turns of wire, output voltage is increased to thousands of volts. This is enough to fire the spark plugs.Classifying chemical reactions worksheet page 63
The PCM sets an ignition coil control circuit code PP when it detects a problem with the ignition coil circuit. The last digit of these codes references the cylinder where the issue is occurring.
For example, P indicates a fault in the 1 cylinder coil circuit. Likewise, P indicates a problem with the coil circuit on cylinder 8. To sum things up, the common causes for code P are as follows:. In addition to an illuminated check engine light, the most common symptom is an ignition misfire. Often, Px codes will also be accompanied by a misfire code PP The following steps will help you diagnose a Px code:.
The first still is to visually inspect the coil pack and its connector.Automatic gearbox function information; value received incorrect.

Our certified mobile mechanics can come to your home or office to perform the Check Engine Light diagnostic. This means that unmetered air is entering the engine without the engine sensing it going through the mass air flow sensor and throttle body.
The engine control module ECM calculates the amount of air going into the engine through the positive crankcase ventilation PCV system. If the amount of air is more than expected then the Check Engine Light will come on and code P is set. The ECM learns the throttle opening angle and stores it in memory. If the throttle body is cleaned or adjusted without the throttle relearn process performed, then the code may be set. The fuel mileage may be more than before failure since the ECM will try and compensate for the excess air in the engine detected by the O2 sensors.
Scans for codes and documents any codes in the ECM, then looks at the freeze frame data for failure. Checks the throttle body to see if it was recently cleaned and allows relearning of the throttle position, then clears the codes and retests. Clearing ECM memory codes before checking the freeze frame data for the main failure problem, so the failure may be duplicated and repaired.
Code P is a code indicating that the ECM is detecting that the engine has too much air entering and sees this as a vacuum leak. An engine running with too much air will run lean and cause the engine to run rough and stall at low engine speeds. Code P can be from any kind of vacuum leak in an engine. Some vehicle manufacturers may use different lean codes instead of this code. The code can be generated from a throttle body or idle air control valve cleaning. This can cause the engine to have to lower the throttle plate to maintain the correct idle speed and see this as excess air entering the engine causing the P code to turn on.
A simple relearn of the base idle will fix most of these problems. YourMechanic offers certified mobile mechanics who will come to your home or office to diagnose and repair your vehicle. These are stored in response to a problem found in the car by the system. These DTC's identify a particular problem area and are intended to provide the technician with a guide as to where a fault might be occurring within the vehicle.
They're the cause for indicator light malfunction on the dashboard. Codes should be used in conjunction with the vehicle's service manual to discover which systems, circuits or components should be tested to fully diagnose the fault with a car code reader or professional OBD2 software. Parts or components should not be replaced with reference to only a malfunctioning indicator lamp check engine fault light. The vehicle service manual should be consulted for more information on possible causes of the fault, along with required testing.
For example, if a DTC reports a sensor fault, replacement of the sensor is unlikely to resolve the underlying problem. The fault is most likely to be caused by the systems that the sensor is monitoring, but might even be caused by the wiring to the sensor itself.
DTCs may also be triggered by faults earlier down the line. For example, a dirty MAF sensor might be causing the car to overcompensate in its fuel-trim adjustments. As a result, oxygen sensors are likely to report fuel mixture problems. You can also access the database by downloading the printable offline version of OBD2 codes ideal for auto mechanics.
TIP: This helpful resource site will reveal problem, cause, solution for every obd fault code which is picked up via computer software for car diagnostics. In general, codes that begin with P0 are Generic codes, whereas codes that begin with P1 are manufacturer-specific.
